Ungheni is the first Moldovan city that developed a General Urban Plan (GUP) for the next 15 years according to European standards and it will be submitted for approval to local councilors in September this year. The GUP has concrete goals until 2030 and plans to attracts investments of over 1 billion lei, to double the number of jobs, and to ensure that 100% of the city inhabitants have access to quality drinking water and to sewage services, IPN reports.

The action is a response to the signing of the EU - Republic of Moldova Association Agreement. As expected, the penalties increase. On the day when the Association Agreement was ratified by the Parliament, the Russian authorities decided to interdict the import of Moldovan meat products.
Municipalities in the Republic of Moldova will receive grants for the implementation of 10 intermunicipal cooperation projects. They will be supported in launching new public services, as waste collection, street lighting, road maintenance etc. The projects will improve the lives of over 120 000 people. The total amount of grants offered is 1 million USD.
