Developing the National Strategy to Mitigate Impacts of Natural Hazards and Climate Change

Goal: The general aim of this project is to assist the Government of Moldova to design, facilitate and synthesize the outputs of a participatory process in order to develop a national strategy and reduce vulnerability towards natural hazards and climate change.

Objectives:

• Analyze recent relevant national and regional analyses
• Develop the plan and schedule for a participatory process, adapted to the needs and interests of Moldavian stakeholders
• Assist the strategy development team to design and implement the public relations and the awareness program.

Results 

• Participatory process implemented - through 6 workshops, 6 specialized seminars and 3 public debates, in the Northern, Central and Southern regions of the Republic of Moldova
• The National Strategy elaborated by the team of local experts
• There has been raised the level of awareness concerning problems related to natural risks and climate change
• About 25 experts have contributed to the policy elaboration - with presentations, studies and other information.
